A Letter from the Sheriff

Welcome to the Troup County Sheriff's Office Website

It is an honor to serve as your Sheriff, and I want to sincerely thank each of you for your support and trust you have given me and my staff for the last four years. Your input and suggestions are important and we will continue to be available to you, while working diligently to protect the citizens and property of Troup County.

Re-elected to my second term in 2016, I am veteran law enforcement professional. I joined the Troup County Sheriff’s Office in 1985 and served in the ranks of Jailer, Patrol Deputy, Field Training Officer, Major of Jail Operations, and Chief Deputy. I am also a state certified law enforcement instructor.

I try to be very active in the community. I am currently a member of the LaGrange Lions Club, the Georgia Sheriff’s Association, the Boys and Girls Club of West Georgia and a board member of the Georgia Sheriff’s Youth Homes Pineland Campus. I also volunteer at Hospice LaGrange.

A lifelong resident of Troup County, I am married to Sharon Woodruff. We have two children, Matthew who is currently serving in the United States Army, and Lindsey who currently attends LaFayette Christian School.
