By using a local number, 812-1000, residents of the community can call and report problems with crime in their area. This information is then forwarded to law enforcement agencies in their area such as the Troup County Sheriff's Office, LaGrange Police Department, Hogansville Police Department and West Point Police Department.

The Crime Stoppers line is available twenty-four hours a day and protects the anonymity of the caller by asking only questions about specific crimes and suspects. Although, technology could be added to monitor callers with ID and other equipment, it is the specific rule of the Crime Stoppers Board that the caller be protected and remains anonymous.

From the information given through the tip line, law enforcement officers are able to follow leads, solve crimes and make arrests. If the information provided leads to an arrest, the caller will be eligible to receive a cash reward of up to one thousand dollars.

A Board of Directors made up of community volunteers is responsible for operations of the non-profit Crime Stoppers program. This group also conducts annual fund raising campaigns, providing the monies needed to pay out rewards. The board meets once each month, reviewing calls received and approving rewards.
